Many art galleries in Aruba provide the visitor with a unique opportunity to see the artist at work.  Both Galeria Eterno and Access in the capital Oranjestad provide varied cultural experiences from poetry readings and dance performances, to visual-art exhibitions, music concerts, dance performances and film screenings.  Galeria Harmonia, located in San Nicolas, features the island’s largest permanent collection of local and international art.

 At Oranjestad’s wharf you can watch as artists produce their works and bargain with them for your favourite item.  Pottery, jewellery, photographs, crafts from wood and hand-painted T-shirts are just some of the items that you can take back home.

 To see the art of Aruba’s earliest inhabitants, visit the Historical Museum and the Archaeological Museum, both located in Oranjestad.  For the pulse of the people today, visit the flea market on the last Sunday of every month where local Arubans market their goods and crafts.
